Litigation Support/ Expert Services

There are times when water leaks, glass failure or operation problems can't be resolved with a quick phone call to the responsible party. Sometimes the window might be defective, not installed properly, or the flashing system isn't proper. A framer thinks it's the window manufacturer and the window manufacturer thinks it's the stucco installer's fault. That's where the expert comes into the picture. An expert will come out to do a "visual walkthrough" to see what is noticeable by eyesight. Then a water test may be done. Here are a few different types of tests:

Test it Yourself: A hose-type test can show you where the water is coming from, if done properly. Many times this is enough to convince the responsible party to participate in fixing the problem. Window Options can help you with your own water leak detection via phone, e-mail, books or over the web.
ASTM type testing: can be effective without destructive testing attached to it if you isolate the window or sections of the wall from the test.Window Options provides ASTM 1105 testing without pressure differential. (Water testing rack)

Destructive Testing: is performed by removing drywall, testing the window or wall and observing water in the wall cavity. If necessary, you can remove the stucco to see where the point of penetration has occured. It's messy, but a sure way to find most problems associated with window leaks.
